The Harlem Nocturne

To mark Vancouver’s 125th anniversary, the City invited digital media artists to gather stories from the people who’ve shaped this place in quiet, powerful ways. Among them were my grandmother, Joyce King-Berry, and my great cousin, Thelma Gibson-Towns—two women whose lives speak to the strength, beauty, and resilience of Black Vancouver.
